Guided by the motto Contraria Sunt Complementa (Niels Bohr) this duo navigates with tools of humor as well as deep analysis. No roles are fixed, no rules are kept, no fears are nurtured.
Anna Källblad, choreographer and dancer, makes works for stage, installations and film using choreography including the role of the spectator as a storytelling device with body and space about power and intimacy and often attracts an unexpected dance audience. In the interactive art installation ”Hoppsa Universum” (2007 at Botkyrka Konsthall), the audience could play music and light an empty room with their body movements in a 150sq m large space thus being part of a performance themselves. A huge audience success of all ages. In For Your Eyes Only (05-10), a mini theatre, a dancer performs for one person at a time, both inside a box measuring 2 sq m. Placed in different environments as the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockhlm, Umeå University Hospital and nightclubs receiving strong emotional reactions from audiences all over. In the film Construction, a continuation of the collaboration in Härmapan with Uglycute, a dancer serves as instruction for building constructions. Källblad also makes choreography for music videos, as Daniel with Bat For Lashes by Johan Renck, and tv commercials. Anna has worked as a dancer with some of Sweden's most known choreographers and toured internationally with choreographers such as Cristina Caprioli (S), Douglas Dunn (US) and Jeremy James (UK).
Annette Taranto is a singer, specialized in early music and free improvisation. She also carries a Master degree in History of Ideas. Recent years she has been working in collaborational perfromance/art projects, widening the possible role of the singer in these. The small nuances, the vulnerability of humans and common/collective behaviour are often in focus in her work. She seeks to stretch the voice as a tool on stage, be it installation or performance, and likes to explore the physicality of the voice. Besides her work with Helan & Halvan, she tours internationally with the renaissance music trio Musica Humana and the baroque orchestra The Hay Market Band.
